Football Festival

Mrs Glasheen, 27 Sep 2018

On Monday we had the first Year 5 and 6 girls and boys football festival. The children worked really hard and played really well. Unfortunately the score did not always reflect the effort and the skill level of the children in either team!

Write up from the organisers:

The standard of football at the Year 5 & 6 football festival held at St. Dunstan’s Jubilee Ground on 24th September 2018 was outstanding . The pace was fast and every team had several attempts at scoring goals.  Every year the standard of football improves but tonight it was exceptional. The goal keeping skills were amazing too. Seven schools from the SYDENHAM and FOREST HILL cluster competed against each other in a league competition. The boys played 7 minute games, while the girls played for 10 minutes. The atmosphere was exciting with a lot of cheering and encouragement from all spectators.  It was lovely to see all the players shaking hands the end of each match.  It was great to see the younger children meeting peers from neighbouring schools and meeting new challenges. The teams were so excited and so full of energy. Every player recieved a certificate, while the runners up were awarded a medal each. The winners went home with medals and a trophy for the school. Well done to every team!
