Our girls had a superb day in the U11 IAPS Small Schools Netball Tournament, winning silver medals

U11 netball team bring home silver medals!

Under the glorious weather, the netball was exceptional at times, and the girls were a pleasure to coach.

The girls started the tournament strongly against OBH with a 6-2 victory and then upped their game in the second match to dominate against Barnardiston and won 10-1. They finished the group with a nail biter against Dolphin School, giving the ball away too easily but narrowly winning 8-7 to top the group.

After a much needed energy boost at lunch the girls really showed what they are capable of in the cup quarter final, turning the ball over and keeping valuable possession to win 11-3 against Widford Lodge.

The cup semi final was a super game of netball against Hilden Oaks but they relied too heavily on the long ball and gave it away too frequently, allowing their opponents back into the game. When the final whistle went, they were 7-6 up and secured a place in the final.

Here the team met a very strong and well drilled St George’s team and it proved to be a game too far. They gave the opposition a good game and showed tenacity until the end, eventually losing 4-8.

Captain Evie W was fantastic all day as our Goal defence, dominating the defensive court and her partner Evie G made some great interceptions and blocks. Beau, Issy and Millie worked tirelessly all day in the mid court, with Alice contributing in the early stages. Grace’s work rate and drives forward were phenomenal at times, as was her shooting, ably supported by Rachel H who scored her fair share of goals. The girls should be very proud to come away as well deserved silver medalists!

Now enjoy a well earned rest! Thank you to the parents for their support and to Miss Olivia Williams for umpiring all day.

Team: Evie W, Grace HK, Evie G, Millie P, Isabelle M, Beau K, Alice H, Rachel H
