2020 House Cross Country

Mr Ostermeyer, 9 Oct 2020

House Cross Country 2020 a great success!

2020 House Cross Country

Yesterday, 07/10, years 3-6 took part in our first house competition of the year; the house cross country up at the Stanley Parker playing fields at the top of Bayston Hill.  Despite some heavy over night rain, the ground was in generally good condition, with a few parts of ‘proper cross country’ conditions, A.K.A. Mud! For both Years 3 and 4, this was the first house competition that they had taken part in and there was much excitement before the start.  Y3 and 4 went first with 2 laps of the course, followed by Y5 and 6 with an extra short lap, completing both 2km and 2.5km respectively.  In total, we had 215 children complete the course, putting their ‘FIT15’ training to the test!  Well done to all involved, with the results being as followed:

Y3/4:

1st Beddoes 1487 points

2nd Webb 1580

3rd Flavell 1642

4th Lock 1755

Y5/6:

1st Lock 925 points

2nd Flavell 931

3rd Beddoes 957

4th Webb 1304

With results put together, this means that our overall House Cross Country champions for this term are Beddoes with 2444 points, thus retaining their trophy from 2 years ago (we had to cancel last year).  Flavell finished 2nd with 2573, followed by Lock on 2680 and Webb on 2884.

There was some great demonstrations of our school values on display, not least enjoyment, teamwork and health.  Well done to all runners, and we hope to run this again in Spring and Summer terms.

Special mentions to the top 3 boys and girls in each age group:

Y3/4: Fraser Rogers, Tate Stevens, Jakob Kletzien; Leila Jones, Tiffany-Rose Sergeant, Sienna Kelly

Y5/6: Leo Stevens, Tom Price, Jack Williams; Phoebe Rogers, Georgia Draper, Megan Bailey

Thank you to the Parish Council for allowing us to take part, the resident of Bayston Hill for their space and support from a far and to all of our staff who helped the event to run safely.
