PSSP Secondary Inclusion Football 14.06.2023

An inclusive Football event for students in mainstream and special schools.

Wednesday 14th June 2023 – What a scorcher for our final PSSP Secondary and Special Schools Football event of this academic year! 6 teams came along today, representing Cann Bridge, Coombe Dean, Plympton Academy and Tor Bridge High – all to take part in our friendly Football event with a difference. Although teams do play for points, winning is not really the focus for us at this one – instead we focus on the School Games values of Self Belief, Determination and Team Work but even more importantly, we aim to make these games as fun as possible. We play a round-robin format so that every team gets to play all of the others, including the other team representing the same school – the home game derbies do get a little more competitive. After factoring in a few more drink breaks than normal, the morning whizzed by and before we knew it, we were adding up the scores and announcing the winners. Congratulations to Coombe Dean who were the overall winners today, and to Plympton Academy who finished on the same number of points but just missed out on number of goals scored. Well done to everyone who took part, I hope that you all enjoyed it? It has been my absolute pleasure running these events this year: thank you to all of the support from Stoke Damerel in always providing such fantastic young leaders to referee and thank you to all of the staff who organise for their teams to come along/or bring them along. I will be sending out the dates for next year very soon so watch this space and I hope you will join me again.
