PSSP Secondary & Special Schools Football May 2023

An inclusive Football event for students in mainstream and special schools.

Wednesday 10th May 2023 – Today was our termly PSSP Secondary & Special Schools Football event, hosted at Harpers Football Centre (previously Goals). Students from Cann Bridge, Plympton Academy, Coombe Dean and Stoke Damerel came along to take part in our friendly Football event with a difference. Rather than being all about the winning, we focus mainly on the School Games values of Self Belief, Determination and Team Work, and above all, having some fun. We play a round-robin format so that every team gets to play all of the others, including the other team representing the same school, which can lead to some exciting matches. For a win, 5 points are awarded; a draw is worth 3 points and a loss is 1 point. When all the matches are done, the results are tallied and our winners announced… Congratulations to Stoke Damerel who were the overall winners today. Full table of results below. Well done to everyone who took part, there were several draws so the teams were very evenly matched. I hope you all had fun and would like to come back again next term. I would like to say a huge thank you to the talented team of sports leaders from Stoke Damerel: you did such an amazing job (as always) refereeing, keeping scores and running skills/drills for the teams – thank you so much. Thank you as well to all of the staff who brought their teams along. Our next one is on Wednesday 14th June 2023, so make sure you are signed up and I look forward to seeing you all then.
