Year 5 & 6 Netball Match v Foxborough

Team Captian Haajar Report

On Wednesday the 4th of October, the Foxborough team came to Ryvers. I felt nervous when I saw the team arrive. But after a quick warm-up around the netball court, I felt more relaxed. I put on my white bib with a C on it. I was going to play the Centre position who can go into any section apart from the 2 semi-circles.

Mr Knight (the referee) blew his whistle. The game had begun. As captain of the team, it was my job to catch the ball at the beginning of the game. The referee hurled the ball into the air and I caught it (after a few bounces!). I chased around the court marking the Centre from the opposition and Jess and I worked together to pass the ball from the defenders to the attackers on our team.

Naina scored both goals while I watched as a sub. It is important for everyone to have a chance to be part of the game. Cirena and Hanah also came close to scoring. On the other end of the court, Jess and Olivia worked hard to stop Foxborough from scoring. I felt proud to be part of the Ryvers team.

In the last 5 minutes, Foxborough scored but luckily they didn’t equalise. We all shook hands at the end of the match and finished off with a team photo. I can’t wait for the next match!
