Park House Football Competition League Group

The Year 3/4 football boys’ team played in the league group stages at Park House School.

Within the group there were 7 teams and so the teams played one another in a round robin festival.

We faced Fir Tree and began strong with everyone playing great football. We defended well and Theo played well in goal making good clearances – we built play from defence with a good pass from Leo to Harry C who passed through to Harry K to score and we won 1-0. A great opening game. Our next game was against Kennet Valley and this time Jack went in goal and made some saves – play was fairly even with both sides evenly matched, however last minute from a corner Leo pushed forward and scored for us to win 1-0. John Rankin were our next opponents and we were not as focused and unfortunately we lost the match 2-0. We then had a break and faced Calcot – this was a better game and we tackled better and marked tighter throughout the match – Jack, Harry C and Dylan worked hard in midfield to create chances. Ned worked hard in defence and helped to set up the next opportunity with a long ball out of defence and Leo taking a chance at goal and scored for us to win 1-0. We then played St Nics and Jack had a lot of pressure on goal but saved many goals, however St Nics were strong and scored 2 goals. We pushed forward and from a corner the ball went over the bar, Theo had a chance on goal unfortunately straight at the GK and we lost 2-0. Our last game we took on Hermitage and both teams were determined with strong play at attack and defence – Theo kept us in the game with an excellent save and the game finished in a draw.

The results were in and it was very tight for the top 3 places – unfortunately Spurcroft had finished 3rd and wouldn’t progress through to the final. Mrs Thompson was proud of the boys performance. Many thanks to the parents that helped with transport and support the team.

Well done to all the players: Jack Woodrow, Ned Taylor, Harry Kendrick, Leo Harvey, Theo Harding, Harry Chapman, Fletcher Mackie and Dylan Young.
