Berks and Bucks Cup Match – Knock Out Round

Spurcroft had finished as runners up in their group matches and were now playing in the knock-out rounds. We had another away match against St Marys and All Saints Primary School.

In the 1st half both teams worked hard and Spurcroft had many opportunities – a great cross from Jordan led to a wide shot from Callum followed by 2 great saves from Jack. We pressured their goal and Bobby had several long shots just going over the cross bar. The boys worked well with Teddy and Deegan staying tight in defence and clearing any loose balls.

The 2nd half saw missed chances again from Callum – hitting the side netting and going wide. The opposition were unfortunate not to score with a shot rebounding twice off the posts. William came on and had a chance to score but the ball bobbled away from him.

With the final minutes of the game a corner went against us, St Mary’s and All Saints took it quickly and scored to go ahead. Despite going behind the boys rallied for the last few minutes and pushed forward but couldn’t find a goal. Mrs Thompson was very pleased with the way the children had played throughout all their Berks and Bucks matches.

Congratulations to all the players: Jack Gray, Teddy Mackie, Callum Little, Bobby Brown, Deegan Delport, Jake Jury, Jordan Frost and William Appleby.
