Friendly win for girls football team

Mrs Thompson, 10 Dec 2018

A friendly match for the girls football team to give them opportunities for match play.

Friendly Football Match V St Finians

Spurcroft played a friendly football match against St Finians to gain some match experience from all their training.

The match was 9 aside which allowed all the Year 3 & 4 girls playing time and they worked hard as a team, supporting and encouraging each other.

We played 3 mini games before the light faded. In the first game we dominated play and worked the ball through the St Finians players to have opportunities to score – the GK was strong and saved attempts. We had a corner and Bailey stepped up and scored from the corner a super goal. Throughout the match the girls played in various positions to allow everyone to have a chance at attacking. We had many chances with the attempts going wide of the post or over the bar.

Our defence remained strong and when called upon cleared the ball successfully. The girls played superb and 4 of the St Finians girls were Yr 5’s so even more deserving for the girls to win 1-0.

Thanks to the parents for their support and cheering on the side of the match. Well done everyone: Bailey Billington, Sophia Billington, Lola Stokesberry, Francesca Smyth, Isabelle Wood, Mia Sayer, Lydia Wimbridge, Nadia Martin and Evie Chadwick.
