KS1 5-a-side football festival

On Saturday 20th October Spurcroft had entered 2 KS1 teams in a participation 5-a-side football festival which was held at Lower Way Playing Ground kindly organised by Thatcham Tornadoes Football Club. In total 18 teams from other Primary schools took part: Burghclere, Curridge, Francis Baily, Hermitage, Speenhamland, St Finians, Thatcham Park, St Johns, The Willows, This was a great opportunity for KS1 children to take part in a football participation event. As you can imagine the children representing the school were very excited to be taking part in the festival.

The Spurcroft teams were called Spurcroft Swallows and Spurcroft Swifts. Each team played 5 games and throughout the morning each team showed good support for one another, improved football skills, good team work, great enthusiasm and determination. Some of the children scored some fantastic goals throughout the games with our school teams winning many of their games. There was also some good defending, superb attacking play and great goalkeeping.

At the end of the morning the children were presented with a participation medal and a water bottle. Thank you to all the parents who supported the children and a special mention to Mr O’Riordan who helped manage a team during the morning. Most of all well done to all the children who represented the school fantastically: Connor O’Riordan, Louie Harris, Jack Willoughby, Phoenix Miles, George Fright, Cody Maclaren-Marshall, Olly Lancaster, Josh Bailey, Kieran Sutherland, Sam Atkins, Euan Henderson, Kane Huntley and Ollie Norton.
