SILVER MEDAL SUCCESS

Year 3/4 children took part in a cricket skills festival learning skills relating to cricket: throwing, catching, batting and fielding. A great afternoon for the children

SILVER MEDAL SUCCESS

The 12 Year 3/4 children were excited to be representing the school at the cricket skills festival.

The children took part in 4 different skills stations: throwing, batting and fielding, catching and bowling. The throwing one involved the children practising their aiming skills to knock down the wickets. The batting one saw the children practise batting from the cricket tees to hit the ball as far as possible and then fielding to gather the balls. At the catching station the children worked in pairs to ensure safe hands and work on their short and long throws with either an underarm or overarm throw. The bowling practise was the hardest one – attempting to keep their elbow straight to ball in a straight line at the wickets. The children then played a match against another team to build on all their skills and all the children worked well in a team as well as some excellent batting skills from many of the children. At the end of the afternoon medals were awarded for the skills stations and their match play. Spurcroft achieved Silver medals – we were delighted, great work from everyone with some budding cricketers for the future.

A great experience for everyone developing and improving their cricket skills. Well done to: Abella Selaj, Heidi Kenneally, Sydnie Wilson-Bremner, Archie Jones, Connor O’Riordan, Cody Maclaren-Marshall, Lenny Kendrick, Louie Harris, Grayson Pegg, Malik Gaye, Harrison Plank and Toby Lyons.
