Personal Challenge 3

Justin - Year 5 Sports Crew, 11 Mar 2019

This week's personal challenge for both KS1 and KS2 children was using a tennis racket and a ball to see how many 'keepy ups' you could do in 20 seconds.

Personal Challenge 3

The Sports Crew each took on different roles to lead this challenge:

  • Eden was on timing duties to see when children had to stop after the 20 seconds.
  • Oliver and Aidan were on picture duties, making sure that we got photos of everyone enjoying themselves.
  • Laila-Su and Sophie were recording the scores so that we could see who was the overall winner for KS1 and KS2.
  • I was on helping duty, I demonstrated to KS1 and KS2 how to bat the ball up in the air.

Junior (Y2) was the KS1 winner by batting the ball up in the air 27 times.  George (Y3) was the KS2 winner, he batted the ball up in the air a whopping 50 times in 20 seconds!

Junior said " I am very proud of myself to have beaten everyone else in KS1!"

George explained that he is really happy to have achieved 50 bats in 20 seconds and he is now going to go home and practice with his Dad because he is determined to beat his personal best!

St Gerard's RC Primary School

In 2018-19, all of the staff and pupils at St. Gerard's, including our fantastic Sports Crew, worked extremely hard to develop our PE and sport provision. We were beyond proud to have this recognised nationally by achieving the Gold School Games Mark for the second consecutive year! In 2019-20 we hope to achieve this accolade again by further strengthening our PE, School Sport and Physical Activity programme.
