Tag Rugby Competition Report

On Thursday the A-team and B-team set out on the familiar green bus. We were divided into girls and boys even though they were not our competing teams. All the girls were with Miss Dun (who was the coach for the B-team) and all the boys were with Mr Buyers (The coach for the A-team) We were all so nervous even though Miss Dun was very encouraging. Finally, we arrived at the location which was huge! The other schools were warming up already and we hurried to join them. After that we all assembled with the other schools and the willow tree (They were running the competition)  coaches explained the main rules of tag rugby. The B-team went down to the smaller field while the A-team stayed up, the competition had started! As the B-team stepped on the pitch, I could feel the bond between us, we were so strong individually and so strong as a team, we won that match 3-0, it felt like we could do anything! After that we took all the rounds without losing one and we ended up eating half a sandwich at 2:45pm, we were starving! We won the other two rounds and finally it was time for the semi-final, 1-0 to us, It had started, 1-1 draw now,  2-1 to us. We had won again so we were all really pumped to get to the final. It was finally time, 1-0 to them, they had a head start! It was such a relief when the rugby ball touched down to meet with the ground we all cheered. 1-1, Sam (one of my teammates) was going for another try, when all of a sudden he passed the ball to me, then I ran, after all what had I got to  lose? I leaped for the try line and then, a hard hand touched my shoulder and shoved me right out of the pitch, it was a turnover. The match ended 1-1 a draw, we were still quite happy, at least we didn’t lose, at least we had fun! We went up to the A-team and all gathered with the other schools and they brang out medals, before that they awarded a trophy for teamwork and respect to Vicars Green, which we were very happy about, then it was time for the medals the A-team came third and the B-team came first, we were both on the podium! We then went onto the busses again full of enthusiasm. It had been a brilliant day and this was a great way to end it.
