Introduction for WJA PE for 2021/2022 and the new Sports Council

Mr Taylor, 27 Sep 2021

This blog will outline the aims of WJA PE for this year, as well as the introduction of the new Sports Council.

The new academic year brings with it a lot of excitement, due to the COVID restrictions being lowered for primary sport, as well as PE being driven and embedded within the new school. Last year all students at WJA took part in at least 2 hours of PE a week, covering different sports and skills. Following this, this allowed all students to enjoy PE and get excited for their lessons. |

This year, with PE embedded into the curriculum, it brings great excitement to be able to teach team sports, which we were not allowed to last academic year, due to risk assessments. This allows students to learn different skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience.  Coinciding with this, they also get to learn and gain a competitive element as we can now play team games within PE, as well as against different schools.

Another exciting prospect is that we have now appointed a brand new Sports Council for the 2021/2022 academic year. This is due to the classes being mixed up, giving other children the opportunity to lead challenges and gain leadership in different elements.

This is a very exciting year for WJA PE!
