Year 5 Netball Competition

Anais and Maya, 8 Mar 2024

On Tuesday 5th March, Anais, Maya, Róisín, Lois, Zoe, Seren, and Amelie from Year 5 competed in the Under 10s Netball Tournament at Clifton High.

Year 5 Netball Competition

Our first match was against St John’s. Sadly, some of their players were taller than us so they had a height advantage. We started strong until Zoe, our centre, got knocked over and hurt her wrist. We had someone from Clifton High fill in for her as she could not play. Unfortunately, the game ended 12-0 to St. John’s.

Our second match was against Clifton Thunder. We started off our second match with some good centre starts from Seren and some amazing passes from Amelie. Sadly, Clifton Thunder also started powerfully and scored some goals.

After that, we had a one-minute break. In the second half, Anais scored a terrific goal and we were very pleased! Clifton Thunder managed to score a few more goals but we managed to intercept the ball and Lois scored our second goal. A few minutes later, the game ended 4-2 to Clifton Thunder. Even though we lost for a second time, our performance were getting better!

Our third and final match was against Clifton Lightning. Maya was an excellent defender, keeping the ball from going into our net. Róisín played a brilliant match and helped us get the ball to the other end so Anais could score two whopping goals. Then we had a one-minute break.

We started the second half off with some good centre passes from Zoe. Luckily, Lois and Anais managed to score a goal each and we were very happy. But the happiness faded when the match ended 7-4 to them but we did our best.

We went into the Clifton High lunch hall and we were given food and participation certificates. Anais got a perfect passer certificate and Zoe got the magnificent mover certificate. It was our first match together so we were extremely proud of ourselves even though we lost over all of the matches.

We had so much fun and we would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Yates for coaching and taking us!
