Year 5/6 Championship League

On Monday the 4th of March, our Year 5/6 Football team went to Golden Hill Sports Ground to participate in the SHINE Championship League.

Our first match was against Westbury Park. We were strong and fearless and in the first half, they got an early shot in but Jake managed to make a great save. Our attack was Theo, Elkanah and Dexter and they were given a great opportunity with Jhamal booting the ball up the pitch. Dexter shot but, unfortunately, it went wide. The second half came and it was still 0-0. Theo shot from long range but, sadly, his shot went wide. The game ended 0-0.

Our next match was against St. Bernard’s and we conceded an early goal but we responded quickly when Theo won a free kick and scored immediately with the ball ending up in the top left corner of the net. Elkanah could have made it 2-1 but, unfortunately, he missed a great opportunity with a lovely volley. Rocco also took a shot towards the end of the game but it hit the post. The game finished 1-1.

In the end, we drew both of our games but we had a great time. Thank you Mr. Hartnell for taking us and coaching us!
