Year 5/6 Netball Competition

Year 6 Girls, 10 Feb 2023

On Monday, 6th February, the Year 5/6 girl’s netball team went to compete in a tournament against five different schools at St. Bedes.

Year 5/6 Netball Competition

Our very first match was against Nova, reasonable competition. Aine scored four banging goals; however, in the last couple of minutes, Iris scored an incredible long shot, leaving us winning with an impressive score of 5-0 to us.

After a brief, well-deserved break, we ventured into our next match against Westbury Park. This was a very difficult game. Nevertheless, Katy bagged a perfect goal but unfortunately, our defense was unable to match their exhilarating approach. We played well in that game but it was a fair draw in the end.

In our last fixed match, we played St. Johns. Although both of the teams played impeccably, we forged our way to victory with a 5-0 win (Maddie scored three goals; Aine scored two).

We were ecstatically proud when we found out that we had qualified for the semi-finals.

In the semis, we played Bishop Road and competed in an intense match, managing to knock them off the board. Katy scored a banger as well as Maddie. The final score was 2-0 to Westbury.

We made it to the finals and in the finals, we faced St. Bons, which was our last match. Everybody played their best, but it was a challenging game to win. We had many shots on goal yet only one succeeded which was scored by Aine. Both teams were very active and triumphant in passing the ball to the net. It was a long, tiring game but St. Bons pushed through and scored 3-1 to them. Considering, we lost 7-0 earlier in the season – we can all feel extremely proud of ourselves!

We lost to St. Bonds in the final but we managed to get into the County Finals and we will be competing for victory against them once again.

Thank you to Mrs. Yates for coaching and taking us, and thank you to all of the parents for cheering us along the way.
