Year 5/6 SHINE Championship League
On Monday the 16 of October, our Year 5 football team competed in the SHINE Championship League and played three matches.
The first match was against Westbury Park. We won the kick-off and we got off to a good start. At the beginning of the match, Charlie ran past their defenders and had a good shot on goal but their goalkeeper saved it sadly. Just after that Jhamal took a shot from almost the halfway line and it bounced off the crossbar and the goalkeeper booted the ball up the pitch, luckily James made an amazing save. The game finished 0-0.
Next up was St Bernards. We got off to another good start where Jake out-skilled their defender and nutmegged the keeper to make the score 1-0 to us. After that, Daniel passed the ball to Rocco and he finished the goal off in style to make it 2-0 to Westbury-on-Trym. Their striker made it 2-1 but then all of a sudden, Ollie got the ball into their box, ran past two defenders and banged the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-1 to us.
Finally, we had to play Henleaze, they looked good but Charlie scored straight away to settle our nerves. Sadly, they responded immediately and they levelled the scores to 1-1. But after that, Jhamal played the ball to Nhiem and he scored to make it 2-1 to us. Near the end of the match, Charlie scored again to finish the game 3-1 to Westbury.
We finished with seven points, with two wins and one draw. Thank you Mr. Banks for coaching us!
