Year 5/6 Sports Hall Athletics

Bella, 3 Nov 2023

On Wednesday, 1st November, eighteen Year 6 athletes went to St. Bedes to take part in a sports hall athletics competition.

Year 5/6 Sports Hall Athletics

When we arrived, we saw that there were six other schools and they looked very hard to beat.

In our first event, we did the obstacle relay.  Jackie, Amira, Sophie. R and Lyla started us off. They ran through the challenges and placed third.

Seb, Fred, Hugo and Tom then took part in the boy's obstacle relay. They bolted past the obstacles and won

After that, it was the one-lap relay for the girls. Hattie and Sophia ran as hard as they could but still came fourth, it was a close race.

Next, it was the two-lap girls relay with Bella and Sophia. Again, they tried their best, but again they came fourth.

Fred and Seb also did the one-lap relay. Seb dashed through the course and Fred was one second off fifth but, sadly, we came sixth.

Next, it was the two-lap relay for the boys and this event started well with Jack and Daniel running along smoothly but one quick kid pulled out ahead at the end of the race, and they got the third place.

Then, it was the six-lap relay with Hattie and Maddie. They came fourth, which was outstanding.

Now, it was the six-lap relay for the boys with Daniel and Isaac. They came sixth but they did have tough competition.

Then it was the over-and-under relay for the girls. Lucy, Sophie. R, Amira and Jackie all took part. They had to jump over hurdles and we would have come first but we made a little error at the start of the race, which prevented this.

Then it was time for the field event. We all had three events each that included the speed bounce, vertical jump, long jump, triple jump and the chest push. We felt that we did better in this.

In the end, we tried our best and had a great time. Overall, we came fifth but we were only two points off Stoke Bishop in third.

Mr. Banks, thank you for organising the event.
