Anaya and Katy, 9 Jun 2023

On Tuesday, 6th June, our Year 6 girl’s cricket team went to Golden Hill Cricket Club for a cricket tournament.

Year 6 Girls Cricket Competition

For our first game, we played Sefton Park. We were just getting warmed up and we played very well. Sefton bowled first. Kate and Lauren were up first to bat and got a total of nine runs. Then, Charlotte and Florence were up and got a total of twenty-two runs. Last but not least, Anaya and Iris scored a total of fifteen runs. Our team played very well and beat Stefan Park 51 for no wickets and they scored 39 for 3 wickets.

For our second match, we played Westbury Park and we were elected to bat first. Our first batting pair was Lauren and Kate and they scored a total of twenty runs. Next was Katy and Florence who got eight runs. Finally, Anaya and Iris scored nineteen in total. Unfortunately, we lost 68 runs to 47 runs but we put up a good fight.

Because we came second in our group, we got into the semi-finals and we played a very strong Knowle Park. We were elected to bat first. This team was the hardest challenge yet. Our first batting pair was Lauren and Kate, who got us five runs but we lost two wickets. Next, Charlotte and Katy scored eight runs and got two wickets. Lastly, Anaya and Iris were left to bat. They scored four runs and lost a wicket. When it was our turn to bowl, we did extremely well – taking two early wickets in the first over. But sadly, it wasn’t enough. The score at the end was 69 runs to Knowle Park, 34 runs to us.

Well done to all the girls who took part, you were fantastic!
