New report: why girls still feel they don’t belong in sport
Women in Sport have released new research which focuses on girls aged 5-11 years, and looks at why girls still feel they don’t belong in sport.
The report, titled Sport, Stereotypes and Stolen Dreams, found girls are heavily influenced by parents and family, peers, and the school environment, along with media and marketing playing an influencing role as girls grow older.
Women in Sport are calling for parents, schools, and coaches to help in creating positive environments to encourage girls in being active. The report outlines five factors for success to help all in creating positive early experiences for girls.
