Spotlight on Equality: How Schools Are Driving Inclusive PE and Sport

Posted 14th May 2025

As part of the ongoing School Games Mark evaluation, five new case studies - developed by the Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC) - are now available, offering valuable insight into how schools across the country are embedding equal opportunities in both their curriculum and extracurricular provision.

These case studies highlight innovative, practical approaches schools are taking to ensure all young people, regardless of background or ability, can access the life-changing benefits of physical activity. A clear theme emerging across all five schools is the powerful role of youth voice in shaping inclusive provision. Where young people are actively involved in designing their PE and sport experience, participation and engagement grow.

This aligns directly with the new School Games Mark questions, which place greater emphasis on listening to pupils and acting on their input.

We encourage you to explore and circulate these case studies to inform your practice, inspire innovation, and demonstrate how inclusive PE and sport is being realised at school level.
