Youth Voice Practitioner Training Information

Do you have pupils/students who don’t fully engage in PE and don’t take part in school sport opportunities? Do you understand what is stopping them and what actions you could take to ensure they have a positive experience in PE? Creating opportunities to listen to and act on the views and ideas of children and young people not only respects their right to a voice (Article 12 UNCRC) but is an essential tool to tackle inequalities in access to regular participation in physical activity.

The full-day Youth Voice Practitioner training will be piloted in Wolverhampton, Brent, and Birmingham in March. Priority will be given to school-based PE and sport practitioners working in the local authorities where the training will occur. Any sessions not fully booked by seven days before the day of the session will offered to SGOs and Active Partnerships.

The sessions will focus on using Youth Voice to tackle inequalities in participation by working with the least active young people to establish what makes a positive experience in PE and how to deliver it in enjoyable, meaningful ways.

If you or non-school-based colleagues would like to attend, please hold the date(s) in your diary and email Alison Goodall one week before the training day. If you cannot secure a place, please note that a further 12 training days will be held over the 12 months starting in April.
