Cranborne First School is a successful, forward-thinking and friendly school with a truly dedicated and professional staff who work with the children. We are proud to be a Voluntary Aided School with strong links to our local church and Diocese, basing our daily endeavours on our beliefs and Christian values. The School is committed to providing high quality education for all the children in a caring, stimulating and attractive environment. In our last Ofsted inspection, the School was graded as “Outstanding” (March 2011), and the same grade was judged in our church school distinctiveness inspection SIAMS in 2016. We focus on the vibrancy and love of learning alongside keeping standards high to give our children the best life chances possible. Our children flourish in an environment where they know they are valued, mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn, and where they are inspired to care for others.

Years 3 and 4

Children in Years 3 and 4, explore the following areas:

  • running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
  • participation in competitive games, modified where appropriate (for example football, tag rugby, netball, rounders and tennis), and application of basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
  • development of flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance (for example, through athletics and gymnastics)
  •  Tag Rugby Tournament 12th June Last Tuesday Rugby players from Cranborne First and Wimborne St Giles First School enjoyed a morning of coaching with professional support from both Wimborne and Bournemouth Rugby clubs. After a picnic lunch the children took part in several friendly matches. Although the focus was primarily on developing skills and gaining confidence rather than producing an overall winner, those who came to observe were left in no doubt about the fantastic skills and teamwork displayed by the children. We are very grateful to Bournemouth and Wimborne Rugby Clubs for their excellent coaching and to all of our faithful parents and Grandparents who came to encourage the children. Mrs Baines, PE Leader
