Children in Years 3 and 4, explore the following areas:
- running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
- participation in competitive games, modified where appropriate (for example football, tag rugby, netball, rounders and tennis), and application of basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
- development of flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance (for example, through athletics and gymnastics)
- Tag Rugby Tournament 12th June Last Tuesday Rugby players from Cranborne First and Wimborne St Giles First School enjoyed a morning of coaching with professional support from both Wimborne and Bournemouth Rugby clubs. After a picnic lunch the children took part in several friendly matches. Although the focus was primarily on developing skills and gaining confidence rather than producing an overall winner, those who came to observe were left in no doubt about the fantastic skills and teamwork displayed by the children. We are very grateful to Bournemouth and Wimborne Rugby Clubs for their excellent coaching and to all of our faithful parents and Grandparents who came to encourage the children. Mrs Baines, PE Leader
