Staffordshire Moorlands School Games Area comprises of 64 Schools, located in Staffordshire between the city of Stoke-on-Trent and the Peak District National Park
Our mission and vision
To put physical activity and competitive sport at the heart of schools, and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.
The School Games will continue to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of even more children and young people.
How it works
The School Games events consist of four unique types of competition:
- intra-school competitions
- local inter-school competitions
- county provision/offer

Staffordshire Rugby Centenary Celebrations
This week we had the pleasure of holding our year 4 rugby festival at Leek Rugby Football Club where we were joined by John McDermott President of Staffordshire Rugby who presented the schools with certificates and rugby balls as part of their centenary celebrations across the County. Taking part was Endon Hall Primary & Nursery School, St Annes Primary School Brown Edge, St Edward’s Academy Cheddleton.

The School Games aims to provide every child with a positive experience in an environment where the young person’s motivation, competence and confidence are at the centre of the competition.
School Games Mark Framework
The Youth Sport Trust and Sport England have decided in the light of Covid-19, to continue the pause on the School Games Mark for 2021. This means that schools will again retain their School Games Mark achieved in 2019.
You Choose Challenge
It is the mission of the School Games to provide ‘more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their Personal Best ’ this includes competing against oneself and others to improve personal performances.

PE and Sports Funding - confirmed funding for 2020/21
Many of you will have already received my email in late July or heard the news elsewhere that the government have confirmed that the Primary PE and sports funding will continue for the academic year 2020/21. This means that you can now fully plan how to make the best use of this funding to support the health and wellbeing of your pupils.
National School Sports Week 2020
Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports team up to unite the country through sport this summer with National School Sport Week At Home. It will take place between Saturday 20 June and Friday 26 June.
County Virtual Games Open
The virtual competitions will take place over the next 6 weeks. Pupils can take part from home and represent their own school against others in the district.

During this ongoing time of uncertainty we believe that it's more important than ever to stay active. Here, you'll find a number of supporting resources and other opportunities to enable you to do just that.
New School Games Active Championships, being run through the TopYa app.
A programme of free daily digital content to help keep young people active during the Coronavirus crisis has launched this week, including video coaching and resources from sport National Governing Bodies.

Government backs a virtual weekly sport and physical activity
The 450 School Games Organisers within the School Games network are being redeployed to provide online activities and digital content to support every child in achieving 60 active minutes a day in line with the Chief Medical Officer’s guidance.
