Sandal Castle Primary School are stars of BBC Breakfast!

Congratulations to Wakefield School Sandal Castle Primary, who were selected by AfPE and the BBC to showcase their PE and activity curriculum on BBC Breakfast.

It is wonderful to have children thrive both physically and mentally through the efforts of teachers delivering a well balanced whole school active curriculum, supported by an enthusiastic headteacher.

Here are some comments from AfPE and Jason Robinson:

Dear Ms Russell,

I am writing on behalf of the Association for Physical Education, to thank you for hosting BBC Breakfast, Jason Robinson OBE and afPE, to show case the difference that PE can make to the lives of children and young people. You and the staff are true ambassadors for the subject and the impact of your vision is clear for everyone to see; not least a happy, calm school with pupils who are an absolute credit to you and their parents.

One can see that from the moment you walk in the school, as my colleague Eileen Marchant, MBE,  calls it, sheer awe and wonder. The pupils are so polite and friendly and clearly from the BBC interviews are excited and inspired by PE and understand how important it is.

afPE, also values the unmitigating support that you give to us; we hope that other Head Teachers will follow your example and place PE at the heart of school life.

Please feel free to read this letter to everyone involved in the school.

Sue Wilkinson MBE, FRSA

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

It’s an absolute pleasure to be working with you guys.  Thanks to everyone else that contributed to a fantastic day.

How can you not be inspired when you see kids enjoying PE in a school that really gets it!! Keep up the great work everyone!!

All the very best
