A real favourite with primary pupils. Not in My Backyard is a fun competitive team activity which uses throwing, aiming and tactics to outwit the opposition. This game is a race against the clock. With plenty of activity, spatial awareness and aiming skills involved, which team can clear their side of the court (their backyard) of objects and have the fewest items left their side when the end whistle blows?
- Number of participants: Group
- Purpose of activity: Increase pupil physical activity through a fun team game which uses throwing skills to outwit the other team.
- Including all pupils: STEP framework included.
- Pupil roles: Participant
- Space: Indoors/Outdoors. Ensure there’s enough space for the game and mark out the court boundary.
- Equipment: A net or barrier to throw over, marker cones, a variety of objects to throw safely i.e. beanbags, small soft balls, koosh balls, beach balls/balloon balls
