Bransty Primary PE - WEEK 2

Mr Lee, 17 Jan 2021

Today we will explore a new theme for our dance and call upon some familiar music to you all from the Animal kingdom!

Bransty Primary PE - WEEK 2

Warming up - round 2

This week we are joined by Isobella and Levi from Year 6 with a 60 second warm up followed by a recap of last weeks move to the pulse and balancing challenges! Watch out because each week this part will get longer and more challenging!

Grab a breather and some inspiration!

Watch this epic song and dance from THE JUNGLE BOOK - Can you join in with our friends on the screen with some monkey inspired moves? Can you find the pulse by tapping your feet, nodding your head, moving side to side or jumping?

This shows some fabulous movement to african movement and how a theme can be used to guide the choreography (dance, music, costumes) used by the dancers.

Moving to the beat - Beginning sequences of 4 and 8

Today we are going to look at introducing sequences of 4 and 8 movements to the session. I have brought in some animal dancers from Charanga to start us looking at these sequences (because they are programmed to move to the pulse in either 4, 8, 12 or 16 moves!)  which we explored last week. They will lead us in this short activity today as we then embark on more work on building towards creating sequences. Lets give it a try by starting the video below!

Here are some song suggestions below for you to use for creating your own gorilla, giraffe or lion dance

Please - UPLOAD YOUR EFFORTS TO YOUR CLASS DOJO - Ask a parent or teacher to upload your efforts!

I look forward to seeing your work later on and reading your feedback on your reflection - remember pick an emoji and write why you chose it after todays lesson. See you next week! :)
