Badminton- Come and try festival on 8th December 2023
On the 1st December 2023, eight children consisting of year 5 and 6 students were invited to the 'come and try Badminton festival' held at Mark Hall in their amazing sports hall. Cooks Spinney, along with many other schools based in Harlow completed a fun warm up which also included students from Mark Hall and the adults. After a lot of running and laughing, the rules of Badminton were explained. As this was many of the children's first time taking part in this sport, we began with small activities which developed individual skills needed to play. After serving activities, learning the different types of strokes and rally games, the children were well equipped to play their first ever games. From the view of a spectator, you would not be able to tell that this was their first time playing the sport. All of the children demonstrated great skills and understanding of the game, and even gave myself and the Mark Hall students a run for their money. Before we knew it, the event had come to an end and it was time to return to our school. Overall, we are very pleased with all of the behaviour of our students and even more impressed with the skills and determination which was displayed by all of the children. Well done Cooks Spinney, we can some professional Badminton players in the making!!
