County Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics Finals @ Fenton Manor Sports Complex - 26th February 2019

The Y5/6 team had done brilliantly to win the East Staffs qualifier for the county indoor sportshall athletics finals, and today travelled to Stoke to compete against the other Stoke and Staffordshire schools who had also qualified. The county finals are always a step up in class from the local competitions and today proved to be no different.

The Edge Hill athletes all performed brilliantly and gave their all in each of the track and field events they took part in. We had some successes with Zack and Harrison winning the boys' 2 + 2 lap relay and 6 lap parlauf, and some strong second and third place performances by both the girls' and boys' teams in other track events. Once again, Brooke scored highly in the speed bounce by notching up a score of 40, and Alivia launched a long throw in the soft javelin to gain a place high in the finishing order.

After nearly 3 hours of competition the results were announced. Edge Hill finished in 7th place, which was a creditable position considering many of our team were from Y5. Each and every one of the Edge Hill athletes deserves a huge Well Done for trying so hard and doing his or her best!
