WINNERS and 2nd Place ! Y3/4 Indoor Canoeing Competition @ Robert Sutton – Tuesday 5th February 2019
Edge Hill entered two teams of 8 into tonight’s competition with a mix of experience. Some children had been attending our very popular canoeing after school club but others just fancied the challenge!
There were a few children who had yet to represent the school in a sporting event so it was great to see the new faces in the school kit. Each of our teams competed in a girls’ race, a boys’ race and a team race. In the last race, the teams had to paddle 1200m, taking turns to get as far as they could before handing the paddle to the next member of their team.
In the individual girls’ race, we had Millie take the silver medal with the second fastest time. In the individual boys’ race, we took home the bronze (Harry S); the silver (Max S) and the gold (Jamie T) after some powerful performances.
During the team challenge, both teams competed in two separate heats and both came out winners! Both of our teams had all shown extremely high levels of hard work and determination which showed in the final overall results as Edge Hill 1 finished joint second place and achieved the silver medal. As for Edge Hill 2, they scored the highest overall points on the night out of the 8 teams and raced home with the gold medal. Both teams did the school and themselves proud tonight with some of them receiving their first ever medals! A huge congratulations to all the children involved.
