Y3/4 Girls' and Y5/6 Girls' Football v Pennine Way - 25th March 2019

Mr Carvell, 27 Mar 2019

On a bright spring evening after school, our two girls' football teams met Pennine Way for some friendly matches.

Y3/4 Girls' and Y5/6 Girls' Football v Pennine Way - 25th March 2019

Pennine Way Y5/6 0-3 Edge Hill Y5/6 (Mia W x2, Chloe)

The team was always on the front foot the entire match with Mia W getting the Edge Hill team off the mark after rolling the ball past a wrong-footed goalie. Lily and Fearne stood firm in defence and stopped nearly every attack that Pennine Way mounted. When Lily moved forward for a spell up front, Skye did a brilliant job as sweeper to repeatedly clear the lines. Chloe was always strong on the ball and shielded it well, as well as smashing home the team's second goal. Millie had chances when playing in a forward position, and Mia F broke through with the ball several times, just her final pass letting her down. Kacy, in the team for the first time in many years, was always busy and never let the opposing players have any time on the ball. In goal, Paris did not have a lot to do, but she got down well to smother the ball for the few scoring chances Pennine Way had. Mia W capped off another good performance from the girls by scoring the team's third goal.

Well done girls for continuing your impressive season!

Pennine Way Y3/4 1- 0 Edge Hill

The Y3/4 girls played their first ever 7 aside football game against Pennine Way. The game was end to end with most of the chances falling to Edge Hill. Jada and Alexi were rocks at the back with Millie surging forward on numerous occasions only for the final shot to be blocked. The girls were unlucky to be caught on the break and lose the game 1-0.
