U9s Tag Rugby

Mr Woodhouse, 20 Nov 2017

Godshill's u9 Tag Rugby team participated in the IOW tournament, hosted at Broadlea primary on Friday 17th November. For many of the team this was their first time representing the school in a sports competition, however they showed throughout the competition this did not faze them what so ever.

Godshill won group B thanks to claiming victories against St Marys, Cowes and Newchurch A. They also secured a vital draw against Greenmount to see them pass to the semi final as group winners. The semi finals saw Godshill take on Wooton, a team fancied by many to do very well in the competition. The match hung in the balance and was decided by a try in the final seconds, seeing Godshill agonisingly beaten 15-10. However the team did not let this effect them, and secured 3rd place in the tournament.

"The team put into practise all of the things we had been working on for the previous 7 weeks, that along with a self drive to succeed as a team proved a brilliant combination. However, I was most proud of the humility and manors the team showed throughout, always being the first to offer a hand shake and congratulation to their opponents. A massive thank you must be said to the parents who gave up their time to transport the team to and from the event." Mr Knight.
