ESFA Cup - Mixed Y5/6 football

On Monday 16th October, the ESFA Cup took place at King Edward’s VII School. The ESFA Cup is a competition with several rounds and if you keep winning your round you could eventually end up playing at (the home of English football) Wembley Stadium!

In the first round of the tournament, Hunter’s Bar had to face Lydgate, Greystones and Westways. This was a Y6 tournament, but some Y5’s played up. We won our first, third and sixth game with goals from Oscar, Effie and a penalty from James. In our last game Effie had another shot which rattled the crossbar (I think it’s only just stopped rattling now).

In our fourth game, we drew a tense game against Greystones. Both of our games against Lydgate however, we lost. But, we always kept on going.

The players of the tournament for HBJ were Oscar, Effie and Ben A for their efforts in the different games. After 6 games (winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 2) we finished second in the group to the Round Winners Lydgate (who won all their games). We wish them the best of luck in the next round.
