Links & Panathlon Ice Sheffield event

After attending our last Links ice-skating event (in November 2021) we were invited to another session on Monday 5th December. 15 of our pupils were able to attend this session at Ice Sheffield (opposite the English Institute of Sport Sheffield). The inclusion session was designed and run by Links School Sports Partnership, British Ice-skating and Panathlon who teamed up to give pupils the opportunity to skate for free!

The event was run to provide students (some of whom had never skated before) with an opportunity to get on the ice. The Ice Skating session was chaperoned by British Ice Skating coaches and volunteers which gave pupils the opportunity to learn the basics of skating in a safe environment. The Penguins (see below for our very own penguin Hunter-The Hero) were available for anyone who wanted to use them to help with their balance and co-ordination on the ice.

Our pupils were on the ice from 11:40am - 1:00pm with Mrs. Abdullah and Mr. Adebola having as much fun on the ice as some of the pupils!

“I really liked the middle of the ice-rink where it was really slippy, because less people had skated on it (It was busy around the edges). It was a very good day and I would definitely go again!” - Avery-pupil

“A great experience for the children, especially those who had never been ice-skating before. The volunteers were amazing and really engaged with the children making it a really inclusive event.” - Ashwa Abdulla- Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer
