PE Success in 2022 for Linthorpe...

January 2022

Y5/6 Girls Football Team competed in the Middlesbrough Schools Football Trophy and did better than they could ever have imagined- They won it!

February 2022

We have recently appointed 17 talented Y5 children as Sports Leaders in our new Linthorpe Sports Leaders Crew. The job involves the children assisting the School's Sports Coach, Mr Gayles, in the delivery of afterschool clubs. The children will help set up and put away the equipment used, lead small games for children, design and manage a noticeboard and assist in the running of extra-curricular sport in and around school.

March 2022

Our Y5/6 Girls Football Squad competed in the qualifying round of the Premier League Primary Stars Tournament. The prize at stake was the opportunity to represent Middlesbrough FC Foundation in the regional finals, with the winners going on to play in the national finals at Vicarage Road, the stadium Premier League side Watford.

April 2022

On Tuesday 5th April, 12 of our Y5 girls were selected to represent Linthorpe in the Middlesbrough School Games Netball Festival. This event was held at Acklam Grange School, who are our partner school in The Legacy Learning Trust. The festival was a huge success for all schools involved, with lots of smiles on faces all round.

May 2022

Mr Gayles and Mrs Seniscal recently took 12 of our Y5 children to our partner school, Acklam Grange for a School Sports Academy Day. The event was ran by the Acklam Grange PE Department and the School's Sports Academy.

Our school were one of three schools participating in the event, which involved a carousel of activities being delivered by the PE team and very talented students from Acklam Grange's Sports Academy. The day began with a presentation from Mr Theakston, who is in charge of the Sports Academy delivering an inspiring presentation to the children, going through what the programme is about and how it benefits young people. The Headteacher of Acklam Grange, Mr Laider also came to welcome the children.

June 2022

In what has been nothing short of a remarkable 2021-22 season for our Y5/6 Girls Football Team, they ended their historic campaign in style, winning the bronze medal at the Tees Valley Girls Football Finals.

September 2022

The school hosted its annual sports day, which was postponed due to extreme heat in the summer. The children took part in a vast array of sports and activities, and displayed their MAGICAL learning skills.

October 2022

Girls football at Middlesbrough Sports village- A tough afternoon for what had been a successful year for the Year 5/6 girls’ squad. The girls finished 3rd in the Girls Middlesbrough schools’ championships after drawing most of their games. Despite conceding one goal in 8 games, it wasn’t to be for the girls this time.

November 2022

Bowling Joy! Mrs Taylor and Mr Bruin headed off for Sunderland to take part in the SEN Bowling festival. All of our children had a fantastic time, with smiles, cheers and fun. We even came second! The children had a great morning and were so thankful to the SGO for organising this magical event.

December 2022

Gymnastics success for our Year 1,2,3 and 4 children at the Middlesbrough Gymnastics competition, led by Mrs Scanlon and Miss Jones. After weeks of practice, attending after school clubs, giving up break and lunch times to perfect their routines our Gymnastics team finally got the chance to showcase their amazing routines at the Middlesbrough Gymnastics competition that took place at Middlesbrough College. Our Y1 and Y2 children came 5th place in what was a challenging heat. Our Y3 and Y4 children pulled off an unbelievable 2nd place finish, performing Infront of nine other schools they truly were brilliant! We also had some fantastic individual finishes, with Harry and Ted coming 2nd and 3rd respectively in the (Boys overall). And in 3rd place Olivia in the (Girls overall).
