A busy festivals period

Mr Bruin, 7 Mar 2023

The last few weeks has seen a busy period of festivals that our children at Linthorpe Community Primary School have got stuck into...

Over the past few weeks, our children have participated in a variety of festivals held at Acklam Grange School, or over at the Whinney Banks Astro turf. We attended the Y3,4,5,6 girls football festival, which saw our 'B' team spend an afternoon out of school playing football with their friends, against other schools in a fun, no pressured environment. The girls really enjoyed this festival as it allowed them to try new skills, be brave in possession and take risks, but also play football and not have to be in constant fear of results and tables.

The second event, saw a group of Year 5/6 boys and girls, take part in the Dance and Gymnastics festival over at Acklam Grange School. The children enjoyed taking part in different routines, had fun on the trampolines and watched on as other schools showcased their talents in a fun, enjoyable afternoon.

The final festival to round off our 3 festivals in two weeks, was a Year 4 & 5 Tag Rugby festival.  Hosted by the coaches at Acklam Rugby Club, our students engaged in a coaching session to highlight the key skills, rules and techniques that would help them, and then went into small sided games against other schools. The festival was evenly matched with some very tight scores coming from games. The children even got taught how to perform the Haka!

We have loved attending all of the various festivals over the last two weeks, offering a vast group of children the opportunity to showcase their talents in a fun, pressure free scenario.
