Afterschool Football -World Cup Edition

Mr Bruin, 8 Dec 2022

Our Year 3/4 children took part in an Intra-school competition at our Football after school club, though it wasn't any competition, it was our very own World Cup...

Late drma, penalty shootouts, scenes of jubilation and heartbreak all within an hour of football. After developing our skills, on the fundamentals of football our Year 3/4 children took to the pitch. The children were split into teams, which saw Mexico, Germany, England and France make the last 4. It was a night of ups and downs that saw France and England make the final. Germany finishes 4th after losing in a penalty shootout against Mexico whilst England and France were watching with anticipation for their big game. The whistle sounded as the Linthorpe World Cup Final 2022 kicked off, a tense, cagey affair which saw the woodwork struck 3 times, but no break through. As the full time whistle sounded, penalties. Could England do it? After the first two penalties for each side were scored, up stepped France who blazed it over the bar... the final penalty came England's way, scored. England have done it!

Well done to all the children involved!
