Hula Hoop Festival

Mr Gayles, 24 Jun 2022

It is amazing what you can do in sport, particularly in activities that you do not know much about. Recently, Mr Gayles was very surprised when he learnt just how much you can do with a Hula Hoop at a Y6 Festival!

Hula Hoop Festival

Two weeks ago, Mr Gayles took a group of Y6 children to a Hula Hoop Festival at Outwood Acklam. Knowing that this was an all day event, Mr Gayles would be the first to admit that he was slightly apprehensive. What could you possibly do with a Hula Hoop for a whole school day? You couldn't possibly do it for a whole day? How wrong Mr Gayles was!

Our children had an absolutely brilliant time at the Festival, with Mr Gayles even having a go himself! The event, ran by Hoop Starz, was absolutely superb. The children were constantly active, doing a wide range of activities over the day with the hoops.

What was even better was the fact that very few, if any of the children who represented the school in the Festival have previously the school. At Linthorpe, we pride ourselves on giving all children opportunities. Festivals are a brilliant way to get more children active and give them the chance to access a range of opportunities that they haven't had chance to try before.

All of the children were given a certificate at the end of the day and came back to school very happy, having had a really fun packed day. This is all that we can ask for!
