More success for our Y5/6 Girls Football Team!

This week, our Y5/6 Girls Football Team finished their brilliant season off in style, further cementing a legacy that will last forever at Linthorpe!

More success for our Y5/6 Girls Football Team!

In what has been nothing short of a remarkable 2021-22 season for our Y5/6 Girls Football Team, they ended their historic campaign in style, winning the bronze medal at the Tees Valley Girls Football Finals.

Held on Monday 20th June, at Stockton Town FC's state of the art astro pitch, six of the best teams in the Tees Valley region, including Linthorpe, competed for the prestigious title of Tees Valley Champions. The competition included Linthorpe, as Middlesbrough Schools Champions, as well as the Stockton, Darlington, Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool Schools Champions. To just be there in the final six of 360 schools was an amazing achievement, however our girls went one better.

After winning three, drawing four and losing three of our ten games, our girls comfortably finished in the top three, claiming third place and bronze medals in the process. Considering at the start of the school year, these girls had not played together, yet have ended the year as Middlesbrough Champions and Tees Valley Bronze Medallists, is nothing short of incredible.

These girls are amazing role models for our school, displaying all of our seven MAGICAL learning habits (Motivation, Attitude, Grit, Independence, Communication, Ambition and Leadership). Upon arriving back at school, the girls were given a guard of honour by our Senior Leadership Team, as well as being called up in assembly the following day to celebrate their amazing achievements.

We are so proud of these girls and despite losing a few in September, the bulk of our squad is made up from current Y5s, meaning some of our Y4s moving up could come into the squad and play a major part in future success! Congratulations to deserved winners Hurworth and runners up Yarm.
