Our Y6 girls attended a multi-team tournament at St George's Graves on Tuesday morning: the day prior to International Women's Day!

Y6 Girls celebrate #LetGirlsPlay!

Two Year 6 girls teams were selected yesterday to represent our academy in a Football competition including many of the local primary schools form our area. The girls were split in to two teams and each played 5 matches. The girls were amazing and tried so hard to use what they had learnt in PE to ensure that every match they played in was a close contest. There was some fantastic attacking, defending and goalkeeping from both of the Lowedges teams. Although we came close on a number of occasions, Lorna was the only player to score a goal; what a goal it was! Chipping the opposition goal keeper from 15 yards out on reduced sizes pitches in to the top corner was a great effort!

It was brilliant to see so many girls taking part, trying and enjoying playing football at St James’s Park. The tournament was held to promote girls taking part in football which has been backed by Barclay’s and the #LetGirlsPlay campaign 2023. Out players of the Tournament were: Irmak Ceylanoglu and Lorna Brough
