KS2 Dance Festival

On Thursday 12th December 2019, ten children from Year 4, 5 and 6 wonderfully represented our school in a KS2 Dance Festival.

On Thursday 12th December 2019, ten children from Year 4, 5 and 6 wonderfully represented our school in a KS2 Dance Festival. The festival, which took place in the Atrium Theatre at Chessington School, had a total of seven schools participating which included: Burlington, Ellingham, Green Lane, Malden Manor, SASM and St Matthew’s.

Team choreographer-Mr Keady-chose and developed a mix to three upbeat songs. The songs for the three-minute performance included I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li, Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia and Feel The Love (feat. John Newman) by Rudimental. The theme and lyrical message behind all three songs relates to having somebody there for you, and as such fits with the Dance Title: Feelin’ the Love!

Since the start of November, the dance squad have been busy learning routines and practising sequences in the form of after-school and lunchtime training sessions. The children had lots of fun leading up to the event using great imagination to create their own sequences as well as learning given steps. The squad did fantastically. All pupils danced with a smile on their face and wonderfully executed their routines for all three of the songs. I was really proud of how well the squad performed. A professional dance instructor, who provided feedback to all schools, positively commented on the synchronisation and arm movements that children displayed. The team demonstrated superb enthusiasm and team-spirit during the day of the event. 

I would like to extend my thanks to parents and carers of the participating pupils in terms of the support that they have given in the weeks leading up to and on the day of the event.
