Year 4 Football Success

Congratulations to our victorious Year 4 Football team!

Year 4 Football Success

On Tuesday 21st March 2023, nine children represented the school in a four-team football competition at Richard Challoner. The competition was of a really good standard with all of the matches closely fought.

In our first encounter against Corpus Christi, the team showed great defensive resilience in the first half. After the break, we were more on the attack and scored two well worked goals to win 2-0. In the second match versus St Agatha’s, we dominated possession for large periods, results in a 3-0 score line at half-time. Despite conceding two late goals, we managed to win 3-2. In the final match of the morning, the children faced a competitive Malden Manor side, who took a well-deserved lead. However, after this all of O.L.I team members rallied and had chance after chance. This constant pressure finally paid off with a flurry of late goals to win the match 3-1.

With three wins from three matches, O.L.I were declared the winners and were presented with medals and a team trophy (see photo). I would like to congratulate Olivia, Krish, Josh, Grayson, Lucas, Ryo, Albie, Jakub and Kirsty on their excellent performances. While the children showcased super and improving skills during the course of the competition, I was really impressed with their team spirit and the respect they showed to their opponents.

Many thanks to Mrs Cox from Richard Challoner for organising this competition. Finally, I would like to thank Mr Appadu for providing support walking to and from the venue, and for being encouraging to all of the team members during the morning.
