See how we got on at our family cluster football event!

Wales High School Football

With our victory still fresh in our minds for the ACET Football tournament, we went into out Wales Family Partnership event with high hopes. WE took 3 team to this tournament. Under 9 Boys, Under 11 Boys and a Mixed age group Girls Team.

Lets start with the girl. Not having played much football as a team, the girls were nervous for their first tournament together. However, this wasn't the case when they got playing. In their first game, the played with great teamwork, passion and commutation. They won this game and marched on to the second. However, this moment couldn't be carried through and they lost 3-0. But, not to worry. In the final game, they received an automatic win as a team had pulled out of the tournament. This meant they finished a close second. Well done girls.

Next, lets see how the under 9 boys got on. It was their first tournament as a team and they shone. First, they beat Hillcrest in a closely fought game, winning 1-0. Next came Wales. This ended up in a 7-0 win with both Theo and Freddie showing great class. Both scoring a brace. Now, onto our last game vs. Harthill. To get through to the Rotherham Finals, a draw is all that was needed. However, on this occasion it wasn't meant to be, losing 1-0. The Under 9 Boys finished a very close second place. We are planning a few friendlies with local schools to build our confidence and team work. Well done Boys.

Finally, we come onto the Under 11 Boys. Having made a few changes to the team that played at Lowedges, the boys were still in high spirit. Our first game vs. Hillcrest finished in a 0-0 draw. However, the boys played really well as a team. Owen (C) had the boys organised and played with great shape. Next came the game against Harthill. The boys come out with a 3-1 win having shown great determination with going 1-0 down early on in the game. In our final game, we new a victory would see us crowned champions. However, an early own goal saw us 1-0 down within side 2 minutes. But, showing teamwork and determination, we finished 4-1 winners with great goals from Sam and Leighton. The boys had done it and were crowned Champions. Onto the Rotherham Finals for our Under 11 Boys.

Well done to everyone who took part. Your represented your school with passion, teamwork, determination and great resilience. Good luck to the under 11 boys in the Rotherham Finals.
