End of cross country season presentation and fun run

Cross Country Fun Run & Presentation

Our keen and committed Tirlebrook runners joined together for the fifth and final time to participate in the finale of our cross-country season; they gathered in unison to run, jog, walk and skip around a slightly different course, to complete the cross-country fun run! After the muddy mayhem of the fun run, we gathered proudly together to listen intently to Mrs Leggett, who was keen to share this season's results. Before announcing the large and small school winners, the top 10 individual runners were presented with a Move More medal. Our runners included Georgie (Y6), Alex (Y6), Isaac (Y5) and Sami (Y4).

Then it was time to hear the results for the girls' team and the boys' team... Urte and Georgie were thrilled to walk forward to receive the cross-country shield for our fantastic girls' team. Together, they managed to beat the other large schools in the running, including Tewkesbury C of E, The John Moore and Carrant Brook. Congratulations girls!

Our superb male runners were not to be disappointed either. Although they did not match the girls' first place result, they came only 3 points behind Carrant Brook, the winning boys' team. Meaning, our boys came second in the cross-country season. Another huge victory for our school, the boys and our school community.

With all of those results in mind, and combining the results of the boys and girls together, Tirlebrook were ecstatic to hear their name called as the over winners of the large school cross-country season 2021-22. Mr Lockley and all of the members of staff involved smiled with pride as our captains approached the table to receive the shield. It was wonderful to hear cheers and applause from the parents and supporters who have braved the cold, wet and windy weather every week with us, to encourage our wonderful pupils. I will end the way I started; we could not be prouder. A huge well done to every single one of our runners. To those that have amazingly competed in all 4 races. To those who managed to compete in at least 3 races. You will all receive an award from the school to congratulate you on such a fantastic acheivement. Well done to all of those children who have managed to achieve a medal this year. Congratulations to all of the children who qualified for the county competition on Saturday 12th March. Tirlebrook is taking 10 children out of the 40 Tewkesbury runners. A quarter of the county competitors! Thank you to all of the committed staff who have came and supported the children and our school. And finally, thank you to all of our families for their ongoing positive encouragement and support. The cross-country season is not easy. The terrain can be tough, the race can be brutal and challenge, and it is because of the team effort - the staff, the parents, obviously the super star children - that make this part of our year such a success! Thank you
