four houses - four activities

House Competitions

Our KS2 children were extremely excited to take part in the first round of their house competitions. Year 6 began with Mr Mander; they battled in their houses in a tag rugby event. Some of the children excelled themselves, demonstrating fantastic rugby skills but the School Games values also. Year 5 began with their class teacher too; competing against each other in some netball skill events but they also went head-to-head in some netball matches too. Their TEAMWORK was exceptional, their resilience was superb and the netball skills on show were extremely impressive!

Mrs Perry began with her own class, participating in their house teams to complete a circuit of hockey skill activities. There was shooting, dribbling, passing and agility tasks. The children were required to demonstrate extreme HONESTY to gather their own points for their team. Maple Tree Class enjoyed their first house competition with Mr Crouch, playing a round of football matches competitively. Mr Crouch was very impressed with their attitudes, particularly their RESPECT and PASSION. And, I think all members of staff could agree that the whole of the juniors demonstrated a lot of SELF-BELIEF. They were not necessarily playing sports that they were confident in. They were playing with their house team and against other house teams, in which they needed to show DETERMINATION and perseverance.

Finally, I am sure you are all wondering what the results were. At this point, we do not have any overall house winners of each sport. Over the course of the year, the children will rotate around each sport until each house has completed all 4 activities. Then, their points will be collated to enable us to crown an overall winner.

Therefore, I can announce the winners of each class for each sport, but we will not find out the final winners until Sports Day.

In Year 3, Wenlock were the winners of the football event, followed by Montague and Beauchamp in 2nd place and Hastings in 4th place.

In Year 4, Beauchamp were the winners with 517 points, followed by Wenlock with 479 points, Montague with 405 points and Hastings with 351 points.

In Year 5, Hastings won with points, Beauchamp came second with 13 points, Wenlock finished in third place with 10 points and Montague finished in fourth place with 11 points.

And finally, Year 6, in their tag rugby competition, Hastings finished in first place, followed by Wenlock, then Montague, and finally Beauchamp.

Congratulations to all of the children. You were absolutely superb! Your attitudes, efforts and resilience were admirable and we cannot wait to repeat the competitions next half term.

Thank you to all of the members of staff who supported us: Mr Crouch, Mr Mander, Miss Moysey and Miss Hek. We are so lucky to have such a flexible and positive staff team, who are enthusiastic!

Thank you all
