Round 2 - football league (Y3/4)

Y3/4 Tewkesbury Football Competition - Round 2

Congratulations to our Y4 footballers who headed over to Tewkesbury School to play in the second half of the Y3 &Y4 Football League on Thursday ... and came away as champions! Following an excellent undefeated first half of the league season before Christmas, the squad performed brilliantly once more and won all three of their matches without conceding a goal to secure the title. They received a shield, last won in 2017,and gold Move More medals. Well done also to Sami and Jason who were awarded School Games values bands for Teamwork and Passion respectively. Many thanks to Mrs. McKenna and Mr. Crouch for accompanying and encouraging the children and to all the families who were able to attend to support. Mr. Crouch commentates,

‘Amazing. Outstanding. World-beating. Just some of the words I would use to describe the display of football I witnessed on Thursday. It was a cold March afternoon, yet Tirlebrook’s Year 4 football team were optimistic -they could sense the taste of winning in the air. But nothing could prepare them for the outcome they received! It all started with a 4-0 win over a very strong Gretton team followed by an exceptionally hard fought 2-0 win against Twyning. Then, it was time for the true test. Supporters flocked to encourage a well renowned Carrant Brook side who were pushing Tirlebrook at the top of the table. Unfortunately, it was not their day as the Tirlebrook side were on a rampage, seeing nothing but the goal. 5-0 was the final result. Our competition were in awe of our fierce and noble side. Not only were the gold medals bagged, but due to our previous results in the league, Tirlebrook finished top of the table, meaning our first piece of silverware at the ‘club’ since the 2016/17 season. Blood, sweat, passion and tears (mostly from Mr Crouch) all endured to create our very own piece of history. Congratulations to everybody in the team and thank you to our loyal fans.

 Squad: Sami B, Oliver F, Joshua H, Matilda K, Theo L, Stanley M, Jack R, Jason S & Arthur W
