Fantastic Festival of Girls Rugby

Mr Woodhouse, 17 Oct 2017

On Monday 16th October 9 girls went to Queensgate Primary for the Island Girls Tag Rugby Festival.

Fantastic Festival of Girls Rugby

On a very cold and windy afternoon in East Cowes, the girls played really well. Conditions were not easy for Rugby and they never stopped trying. In a group with Lanesend, The Bay, Wootton and Dover Park, the girls got off to a winning start beating Wootton 4-3.

Next they came up against a really strong The Bay team but their team spirit and perseverance meant they only narrowly lost 3-4. In their third match it was another very closely contested game against Dover Park, with both teams scoring tries, the team was winning 3-2 right up until the lat couple of minutes when Dover Park managed squeeze over the line for their third try. The match finished 3-3.

The final match was against a really well organised and trained Lanesend team. Despite going behind by three tries quite quickly the girls stuck together and managed to get two back, in the end Lanesend were just too quick and they managed a further 3 tries, again the team's perseverance remained and they did score another try before the match finished, 3-6.
