Ventnor Cluster Tag Rugby

Mr Woodhouse, 6 Oct 2017

On Thursday 5th October we hosted the Ventnor Tag Rugby Competition. It was a fantastic event enjoyed by over 50 children.

Ventnor Cluster Tag Rugby

It was amazing to be asked to host the competition by the Island School Games Organisers and a huge thank you needs to go to the brilliant Dave the caretaker for his help in getting the pitches ready and transporting other schools for them and to Mr T for stepping in as manager of our 2nd team.

We were one of only two schools to enter two teams and both did really well. The yellow team competed in every match with good spirit and scored lots of tries and played very well. They finished 4th in their group. The red team were brilliant throughout only losing two matches all afternoon.

They finished 2nd in their group, qualifying for the semi finals where they came up against a really strong Newchurch team. The match was really close with both teams having scored 3 tries each with only a few minutes left to play. Sadly though Newchurch managed to squeeze in a final fourth try before the end of the match meaning they went through to the final.

In the third and fourth place play off match the red team came up against Niton who had had a really successful afternoon so far only losing one match. The team were super scoring 5 tries with everyone contributing to the effort. Niton could only manage 2 tries in reply which meant Wroxall finished in 3rd place overall.

A huge well done to the 18 children who participated and were a real credit to our school.
