Activity details

Two team skipping games using a long rope. Pupils take turns to be the rope turners and encourage others to play ‘Get In’ or ‘Mates’ . wo simple games to get the heart rate up and develop jumping skills. 

  • Number of participants: Groups. 
  • Purpose of activity: Increase pupil’s activity levels through two engaging skipping activities using a long rope and taking turns to be rope turners. The aim is to maintain a constant skipping action until it’s time to jump out for the next skipper. 
  • Including all pupils: STEP framework included. 
  • Pupil roles: Participant. 
  • Space: Indoors/Outdoors. Ensure there is enough space for the rope to be turned smoothly with enough height clear of any obstructions and space for pupils to run in and out of the skipping rope when it’s their turn. 
  • Equipment: 1 long rope per group playing.
